“Our business application software is System 21 from Infor. In our busy manufacturing and warehousing operations we manage multiple environments and sites, running 2 shifts and will shortly adopt a 3 shift system for our busy Winter season. We have a central IT team of 9 people in total with 2 people dedicated to IBM i, i5/OS (System i™, iSeries™, AS/400™) Operations who are on hand during the core business hours.

We run our warehouse computer operations with minimum resources for cost efficiency - we rely on Halcyon during the day via the color-coded management console and particularly out-of-hours to give us a “heads up” and notify of us of any problems by either SMS or email.

This allows us to head off any issues and take remote remedial action quickly so that disruption to the business is kept to a minimum.

We are also very pleased with the way that Halcyon’s Advanced Automation Suite (Previously High Availability Suite) has allowed us to automate as much as possible so that we can reduce the number of manual tasks that IT staff has to handle and therefore keep our headcount low.

Out-of-hours we can simply dial in and if there are any issues that could potentially effect the business e.g. the generation of the “pick lists” or the status of job queues - we can sort these out and often remotely though the software. For instance, on the occasions when I have been off site, out of hours and have needed to respond quickly to a situation I have been able to reply back to messages from the System i™ (iSeries™, AS/400™) by sending an SMS from my mobile phone. This has really been helpful from my point of view and saved considerable time and trouble.

We have been using Halcyon for nearly 3 years now and when it comes to support I have found their staff to be friendly, very helpful and responsive. They have listened to the way we run our operations and have even put changes into their standard product to suit our business processes; overall their knowledge of the System i™ (iSeries™, AS/400™) is excellent".
