Introduction

Use the Halcyon Record and Playback for the System i™ (iSeries™, AS/400™) when jobs are either run interactively, or interactive screens have to be processed before a job can be submitted to the job queue. It can also be used to perform "check list" tasks automatically.

Record all the keystrokes (including Function and Enter Keys) necessary to submit a job and playback the sequence automatically within Job Scheduler. Run-time variables also catered for.

Record and Playback records any sequence of keys, including the Enter key and Function keys, and saves them as a script.

The scripts can be edited at any time to add additional functionality, cater for variables and include intelligent logic. Scripts can also be played back either interactively, by executing a call, or they can be submitted to a job queue.

Repetitive daily tasks, which are outside the normal scope of automation, have now been automated using Record and Playback, which saves skilled staff having to sign onto systems, perform menu tasks, calls to programs, etc. manually.
