Version 1.4 is another release with many new and enhanced features.
Policy Minder 1.4 enhancements include:
-
a browser-based GUI interface. This fully-functioning GUI interface allows you to easily configure and use Policy Minder as well as provides an easy way to see reports from multiple systems on one screen.
-
the ability to email the resulting reports after running the CHECK, FIXIT, PRTCPL and PRTFIX commands. (Note: This feature takes advantage of the iSeries and System i integrated email (SMTP) function. You must first have the system function configured to use this Policy Minder feature.)
-
the ability to include user profiles based on the accounting code
-
enhanced generic character specification. You can now specify a generic for a specific position. For example, specifying DEPT?201, means that any character can be specified for the fifth position of the name.
-
using the GUI interface, the ability to upload user profile settings and object template settings from a csv file (i.e., a spreadsheet) and have Policy Minder automatically create the templates for user profiles or object templates for the library template and/or add new users/objects to existing templates. This is helpful when you have large numbers of users or objects that need to specifically be named in a template that cannot be named via a generic name.
-
an enhanced adopted authority category for the command line interface – you can now accept an individual program rather than having to accept the entire category
-
the ability to copy an object template (extending the feature of being able to copy user profile, library and directory templates.)
-
new profile attributes from IBM i V6R1, including new values for device sessions and user auditing as well as new user profile parameters
-
new system values from IBM i V6R1
-
a report will now be generated when running FixIt in test mode even if FixIt is not enabled for the category or template.
Changes in this release:
-
The SPMSetup.exe now FTPs a savf (SETUPTMP.SAVF) to the system. The SETUPTMP/INSTALL command then performs the rest of the installation steps. This facilitates configurations where it is difficult to run the SPMSetup.exe to every system. Since the code is now packaged as a SAVF, you can save and restore the savf to other systems, rather than run the SPMSetup.exe to upload the code to other systems.
-
For successful installation, the QALWOBJRST system value must have *ALWPGMADP specified to accommodate programs adopting the SKYVIEWOWN user profile.
-
The order of the attributes of the user profile category has changed to accommodate additional user profile attributes in V6R1.
-
Two new directories are created when the product is installed:
-
/SkyViewWeb – this directory holds the configuration for the GUI interface
-
/SkyView/emailtemp - this directory is used when you choose the option to email compliance or FixIt reports. In addition, IBM-supplied profile QMSF has been given *RX authority to both /SkyView and /SkyView/emailtemp directories so that the integrated IBM i email feature has sufficient authority to email the reports.
