WebSphere® Monitoring for IBM i Systems
IBM i WebSphere® MQ Series guarantees delivery of data as messages but during the process what can go wrong? How can you promptly detect any bottlenecks as well as identify any problems which could potentially prevent data from reaching its destination. These could include, for example, messages getting stuck within MQ systems, excessive queue depths and queue waiting times.
Halcyon MQ Manager will proactively monitor the performance and availability of the IBM WebSphere MQ application server. It will raise alerts whenever a threshold is breached, detect “bottle necks” and identify any issues which could potentially prevent data from reaching its required destination.
It monitors seven key components of IBM WebSphere: MQ Queue Manager, MQ Listeners, MQ Channels, MQ Queues, MQ Services, MQ Cluster Manager Status and MQ Events.
The software solution will continuously and automatically monitor essential MQ processes, negating the need for experienced IT staff to manually check statuses of the critical elements of the WebSphere application server. It runs every 60 seconds by default, but can be configured to suit operational requirements in order to check specific rule-based criteria against current WebSphere MQ values before performing pre-defined actions.
It will deliver fault management processes by proactively checking for impending problems. This will trigger alarm notifications and appropriate actions as well as gather performance data for planning, analysis and reporting problems.
Web based GUI: Respond to issues in real-time
A unique web-browser graphical user interface will empower IT teams to remotely monitor via a smartphone or tablet.
The MQ Manager GUI provides you with a dashboard overview of the message queues being monitored in real-time. The dashboard view shows a selection of dial, chart and line widgets and includes a traffic light status display.
The GUI gives you the flexibility to set up different page views, tabs or sections to monitor, for example; different systems, servers and countries. You can also configure which widgets are displayed from your dashboard – how they are grouped and how they appear.
The Halcyon Enterprise Console is shipped with the MQ Manager software. Halcyon Enterprise Console provides a centralized “dashboard” view of your entire enterprise – for all servers, regardless of the operating platform. IT teams can receive and rapidly respond to issues wherever they are located before they escalate and impact the business.
The MQ Manager software has been designed to be easy-to-use and low maintenance in terms of administration as it doesn’t require scripting or specialist knowledge. It is supplied with best practice example rules that monitors MQ regardless of the destination platform, saving you time and effort in configuration.
MQ Manager can be used as a stand-alone product or in conjunction with any of Halcyon’s Monitoring Suites for the IBM i and shares common features such as calendars, escalation procedures and authorities used by existing Halcyon products.
