AMPY Metering puchases network monitoring software for 25 Enterprise Servers

Halcyon Software’s Network Server Suite to provide proactive alerts to reduce server downtime

Ampy Metering, part of the world’s largest manufacturer of electrical meters, has placed an order for 25 server licences of Halcyon Software’s Network Server Suite (NSS) for its UK-based HP and Dell Windows servers. The order forms part of a server integration project across its two main UK sites in Peterborough and Stockport and will provide Ampy Metering with a fully comprehensive package of systems monitoring, management and automation tools. A key selection requirement was the inclusion of proactive email and SMS alerts that will reduce server maintenance issues, by flagging problems to the IT support team 24/7 - whether on or off site - before they become critical.

Richard Wand, Regional Information Officer UK for Ampy Metering, comments, “The server integration project was implemented to lower the high level of manual administration that our current software made necessary. The project meant the IT department would have to do more work with less capacity, and therefore we needed software that would enable us to increase efficiency.”

Ampy Metering is part of a group that is the world’s largest manufacturer of electrical meters and has offices and distributors in 28 countries around the world.

During the evaluation process Ampy Metering tested a series of other products but opted for Halcyon’s NSS due to its proficiency in enabling remote monitoring and maintenance through instant SMS and email alerts.

Wand continues, “Halcyon’s NSS product is very flexible and it stood out specifically due to the consistency of its performance across our entire range of servers and its ability to provide proactive alerts to reduce the risk of critical situations occurring.”

Wand concludes, “Halcyon’s NSS particularly impressed us because it is very easy to use. There is no need to delve beyond the level of ‘point and click’ to keep the servers well maintained. As a result, we have managed to greatly reduce resource exclusively dedicated to IT. NSS will help us maintain a sleek and efficient IT department that is accountable to the entire organisation.
