Halcyon launch new Pay-As-You-Go systems management solutions

New launch is the first of its kind for systems management

Systems management software provider, Halcyon Software, has announced the launch of its ‘Subscription Software Service’; a first within the systems management arena providing powerful tools to monitor, manage and automate System i and Windows operations.

Lorraine Cousins, Managing Director of Halcyon Software comments, “We live in an on-demand world. Pay-As-You-Go services revolutionised the mobile phone market and we recognised that Software as a Service (“SaaS”) delivered on a pay-as-you-go basis, is becoming a clear business trend”.

“We have always worked on a rental basis with large managed services companies over the last nine years - but now we are able to offer our subscription software services to end users no matter whether they have a single system or multiple systems. We know that IT departments have a requirement to deliver an IT service to their company that is seamless, responsive and value for money. More and more companies are asking for solutions based on predictable monthly costs, rather than more traditional, upfront capital purchase.”

Halcyon’s new Subscription Software Service offers five software suites enabling cross-platform management within a fixed price matrix starting from £159 a month. All suites include a colour-coded management console and critical alerting via SMS and email so that early warnings are received on any serious problems before they become a major disaster. Halcyon’s new service also includes assistance with migration from any existing monitoring system, help with configuration and full training for all users. 

Businesses benefit from a predictable fixed monthly fee, with no upfront costs and a maximum three-month commitment allowing them to keep pace with any changes with their business situation and their environment.  With no upfront licence fees and no risk, businesses are able to easily demonstrate the return on investment. 

Digica, a supplier of managed IT services to the public and private sector, was one of the first of Halcyon’s clients to opt for Halcyon’s ‘pay-as-you-go’ subscription software.  
Phil Carnell, Operations Tier 1 Support Manager of Digica, comments, “We are very pleased with the flexibility of the subscription software service from Halcyon. Renting the software has a good commercial fit with our business and allows us to know exactly what our costs are going to be on a month by month basis.”
Carnell continues, “The Halcyon Enterprise Console contained in the software is now the central hub of our System i™ (iSeries™, AS/400™) outsourcing operations. As we are responsible for many systems, the Enterprise Console gives Digica the opportunity to exploit the benefits of having a single focal point for all system alerts. In turn, this gives our customers an increased response time to any issues, which require operator intervention.”
