Halcyon release Spool File Manager 5.0
Date Posted: 15/06/07
Systems management software provider, Halcyon Software, today announces the launch of Spool File Manager v 5.0 in what amounts to a major upgrade of one of its key software solutions.
Spool File Manager v 5.0 is a comprehensive spool file distribution and archiving tool which offers real-time spool file monitoring and filtering. It automatically overrides spool file attributes without any need for program changes.
Key upgrades include the ability to email spool files natively from the IBM System i™ (iSeries™, AS/400™) as PDFs, Text or HTML documents. In addition users can elect to use the PC GUI included in the product. This ensures the reliable distribution of files in the appropriate format for the business anywhere across the world. The latest features have now made it possible for users to export to Excel with the ability to specify formatting options such as font colors and sizes, background colors and positional alignment.
Significantly, Spool File Manager v 5.0 now has the functionality to run scripts over reports, this will split the spool files into multiple reports, merge multiple reports into one, extract specific information from spool files to which calculations can then be applied and export extracted and manipulated information from spools to Excel.
This comprehensive automation means that users don’t need to implement program changes when determining who gets which printout, which provides a quicker and less costly solution for spool file distribution. Paper wastage is also reduced by specifically printing only necessary documents, omitting those that only need archiving.
A complete list of upgrades is detailed below:
- Direct emailing from System i™ (iSeries™, AS/400™) in PDF, Text and HTML format
- Ability to run scripts over reports (sample scripts provided) – functions provided include:
- Splitting spool files into multiple reports
- Merging multiple reports into one
- Extracting specific information from spool files which can then have calculations applied to it
- Exporting extracted (and manipulated if required) information from spools to Excel
- Export to Excel with the ability to specify formatting options (font colors and sizes, background colors, left, right or center alignment)
