Getronics sign new Software Agreement
Date Posted: 06/05/05
Getronics (formerly PinkRoccade) announced a new agreement, 3rd May 2005, with Halcyon Software to bring further improvements to its shared service offering through use of Halcyon's Data Centre Management Suite (DCMS). Halcyon's DCMS will be used on all managed IBM System i™ (iSeries™, AS/400™) machines, including Getronics' Shared Service built around an enterprise class IBM Model 890, based in its National Data Centre in Runcorn, Cheshire.
The System i™ (iSeries™, AS/400™) Shared Service was launched at the beginning of 2003 and has proved successful in delivering on-demand technology on a 'pay as you go basis' to customers who do not wish to own their own equipment and want to reduce technology ownership costs.
Clive Hyland, COO of Getronics UK, said: "Our best practice ethos means we are committed to continual improvement of services through agreements with best of breed solution providers. We are very pleased to be working with Halcyon as part of our service management framework."
The agreement significantly extends Getronic's use of Halcyon software, providing managed service customers with access to the full product range of systems management software, improving the scope of automation and monitoring that can be achieved, enhancing productivity as well as the quality of service delivery in general.
Use of the software is also strategically important to a number of new service offerings that Getronics will bring to the market in 2005, and underlines the company's ongoing commitment to System i™ (iSeries™, AS/400™) technology, and the partnership with Halcyon.
During the first quarter of 2005 Getronics will be commencing a programme to upgrade all existing System i™ (iSeries™, AS/400™) clients to the Halcyon (DCMS), which includes an Enterprise Console facility. Implementation of the latter will allow central monitoring of all System i™ (iSeries™, AS/400™) systems from multiple locations thereby improving operational and support productivity, as well as providing better integration opportunities into Getronic's Enterprise Systems Management Architecture based on IBM's Tivoli solution set.
Lorraine Cousins, Managing Director of Halcyon Software, said "We are delighted to have been awarded the business by Getronics. Now Getronics is able to gain extra cost and efficiencies by using the entire Halcyon toolset; the agreement has further strengthened our well- established business relationship. We are pleased that our software and support are considered part of their team." |
